Similar to working at any customer facing industry, there were regulars who frequented the location at which I was employed. Being a veteran, I had two types of favorite customers. First, and most obvious, would be my fellow veterans and their family members… including Gold Star families. Many veterans and their families have discovered the beneficial effects of cannabis. Many more have not, and I’m hoping to change that. For veterans, trust is hugely important. We suffer from various ailments and conditions that only other veterans seem to understand. It was my honor to provide other veterans with the type of relief that government healthcare could never provide.
My other favorite type of customer were cancer patients. When someone is literally dying from a disease and the only treatments for that disease cause immense amounts of pain, loss of appetite, and extreme amounts of stress, you bet I am honored to provide a natural and effective source of relief. I helped to provide a natural remedy that reduces pain, increases appetite, and relieves stress for a cancer patients. This is a proven science and part of why cannabis is available medically in a majority of states. When that customer returns, eyes full of joyous tears, and tells you how helpful cannabis has been on their cancer recovery, it inspires something within the soul that cannot be replaced. And when the cancer patient also happens to be a veteran or Gold Star family member who credits you with saving their life, it brings pride and legitimacy to an industry that struggles to gain legalization nationwide. This needs to change.
